IABSE National Group Chairs to deliver keynote lectures at ASEP Convention - May 2015

Prominent members of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering will deliver keynote lectures at the 17th Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines International Convnetion (17AIC) with the theme "Advancing structural engineering for cross-border practice" to be held on May 28-30, 2015 at Marco Polo Hotel, Pasig City, Metro Manila, Philippines.

 Prof. Brian Uy (Chair of Australian Group of IABSE) will deliver a lecture on "Australian advances in steel and composite structural engineering to enhance cross-border practice" on May 28, 2015 in the afternoon.

Prof. Yozo Fujino (Chair of  the Japanese Group of IABSE) will deliver a lecture on "Full-scale monitoring of large structures: Long span bridges and base-isolated buildings" on May 29, 2015 in the morning.








Meanwhile members of the Philippine Group of IABSE will also present technical papers at the convention.
  • Prof. Andres Oreta (Chair of the Philippine Group of IABSE and ASEP Fellow) will present a paper on "Introducing sustainability concepts in the design of structures." 
  • Alden Paul Balili (Secretariat of the Philippine Group of IABSE and ASEP Member) will present a paper co-authored with Dr. Lessandro Garciano (ASEP member) on "Derivation of resistance and load factors for new cold formed sections taking into consideration updated wind load models."
  • Jason Ongpeng (IABSE member) co-authored with Ricahrd Ferrer who will present the paper on "Earlier studies and development on nonlinear ultrasonic testing research in the Philippines."
The Philippine Group of IABSE is a supporting organization to the 17AIC.
