Dr Andreas Lampropoulos of IABSE as Guest Speaker at CASTED2020

 

Dr Andreas Lampropoulos,  Chair of IABSE Task Group 1.1 ‘Improving Seismic Resilience of Reinforced Concrete Structures’ and Task Group 5.5 ‘Conservation and Seismic Strengthening/Retrofitting of Existing Unreinforced Masonry Structures’ will be the guest speaker in the Virtual Conference on Concrete and Steel Technology, Engineering and Design (CASTED 2020) organized by the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP) and supported by the Philippine Group of IABSE to be held via Zoom on October 22-24, 2020.

Dr. Lampropoulos will present a virtual lecture on "Repair & Strengthening of Existing Structures using Novel Construction Materials" on October 22, 2020 (10:00 - 10:30 AM, Philippine Time). He will will also make a brief introduction on the work of the IABSE Task Groups TG1.1 and TG5.5. Dr. Rodolfo Mendoza, Jr., the chair of CASTED 2020 Technical Committee is a member of the Task Group 1.1 ‘Improving Seismic Resilience of Reinforced Concrete Structures.'

Dr. Lampropoulos is a Principal Lecturer in Civil Engineering at the University of Brighton. His main research agenda spans the areas of novel construction materials and seismic strengthening/ retrofitting of existing structures. He is the chair of the Outstanding Paper Award Committee (OPAC) of the IABSE’s Structural Engineering International (SEI) journal. He is also a member of the International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib) Task Group 8.1 ‘Model Technical Specification for Repairs and Interventions’ and Task Group 6.6 ‘Retrofitting of Precast Structures in Seismic Areas’ as well as a member of the UK Mirror Group for Eurocode 8 Part 3 (B/525/8 Panel 3).

(ASEP). 

CASTED2020, a Virtual Conference with the theme, “Casted in Concrete and Steel for Resiliency and Sustainability” will be held via Zoom on October 22-24, 2020. The conference highlight keynote lectures by prominent experts in the field of concrete and steel research, design, analysis and construction from Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The video-webinar on SONA or  "Structural Engineering: Outstanding & Novel Achievements" is a self-paced webinar where the participant may view the video presentations and lectures prepared by the organizers at his/her own pace/time/place. The video presentations and lectures are uploaded at the STRUCT-CHANNEL @ YouTube. The STRUCT-CHANNEL is a platform for sharing video presentations about structural engineering to advance the knowledge and understanding of civil engineering students, faculty and professionals about the relevance and importance of the structural engineering (STE) specialization in building the quality of life.
