IABSE-PH secretary attends 19th Congress at Stockholm, Sweden


 
Dr. Jonathan Dungca, Prof. in Civil Engineering and currently the Dean of the Gokongwei College of Engineering, DLSU, Manila attended the 19th Congress of the International Association on Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) with the theme, “Challenges in Design and Construction of an Innovative and Sustainable Built Environment” last Sept. 21-23, 2016 at Stockholm, Sweden. The venue was City Conference Centre, Folkets Hus
Barnhusgatan 12 - 14,111 23 Stockholm. 
Dr. Dungca represented the Philippine Branch of IABSE, being its secretary at the annual meeting on the chairs of the national groups of IABSE. Dr. Dungca also presented his paper co-authored with Joshua Macaraeg on “Development of a Reference for Seismic Amplification: The case of Metro Manila" in a technical session of Loads (Earthquake Resistant Structures). IABSE-PH supports the 6ACEE-Cebu, Philippines

The Philippine Group of IABSE, once again, is one of the supporting organizations of a conference hosted by the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines. This time, IABSE-PH is supporting the 6th ASIA Conference on Earthquake Engineering which will be held on Sept. 22-24, 2016 at Cebu City, Philippines. IABSE-PH members, Dr. Andy Oreta and Rannie Ison are the founding members of the ACEE in 2004 and are now members of the organizing committee of the 6ACEE.



The 6th ASIA Conference on Earthquake Engineering (6ACEE) will be held on on September 22-24, 2016 in Cebu City on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (ASEP) and in commemoration of the 3rd anniversary of the 2013 Bohol Earthquake. The theme of the 6ACEE is "Bridging Theory and Practice in Earthquake Engineering for Enhancing Community Earthquake Resilience."

Members of the Philippine Group of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) - Andres Oreta, Jason Ongpeng, Rodolfo Mendoza and Kirk Yu - attended the IABSE Conference Nara 2015 held on May 13-15, 2015 at the Nara Kasugano International Forum, Nara, Japan, The conference which had the theme, “Elegance in Structures” was organized by the Japanese Group of iABSE.
