Philippine Group of the International Association for Bridge & Structural Engineering (IABSE-PH): October 2014

The Philippine Group of the International Association of Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE-PH) was founded during the meeting held on October 25, 2014 at De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines. IABSE-PH was formed to address the following mission:

To promote global networking among civil & structural engineers.
To advance the knowledge, expertise & practice of Filipino civil & structural engineers through continuing education lectures, seminars and conferences.

Brief presentations were conducted by IABSE members. Engr. Rodolfo Mendoza Jr. introduced the IABSE events in 2015 such as the Workshop on Safety, Robustness and Condition Assessment of Structures at Helsinki, Finland, IABSE Conference on Elegance of Structures at Nara, Japan and the IABSE Conference at Geneva, Switzerland. Engr.Alden Paul Balili presented the highlights of IABSE Madrid Conference 2014, while Dr. Andy Oreta presented the benefits of a IABSE member.

During the meeting, the IABSE-PH Coordinating Council of eight members was formed. The council members are:

The council will be the coordinating body that will plan and pursue the activities of the national group which includes conducting CPE lectures and seminar-workshops and hosting conferences and forums. It was agreed upon that the delegate of the group in IABSE meetings will be designated by the council.
